Built around akigalawood -- a woody molecule upcycled from patchouli by biotechnology -- with Thai basil and Nepalese timur pepper on top and Haitian vetiver underneath. Bright, peppery, green and very loud: reviewers who love it call it the cleanest thing they own, and reviewers who do not call the opening abrasive. Sample before buying.

Dua names Bois Impérial as the inspiration on its own product page and reproduces the pyramid molecule for molecule — Thai basil, Nepalese timut pepper, Haitian vetiver, Georgywood, Petalia, Indonesian patchouli, Ambrofix, and crucially akigalawood itself, which is the one thing every Arab-house clone of this fragrance is missing. On paper it is the closest reconstruction available. Read what is missing before you buy, because it is evidence rather than scent: Parfumo lists this with no ratings and no reviews at all, so nobody has publicly compared it to the original in either direction. This score rests on the brand's own claim and on note reconstruction, which our method treats as weaker than owner testimony, and that is why it is not higher. Dua also asks for three to four weeks of maceration before judging it.

Five of Bois Impérial's seven notes, and the two it misses are the two reviewers name themselves. An owner calls it the best ticket to Bois Impérial territory in a sea of clones, while admitting it is missing the akigalawood accord that signs the original; a Turkish reviewer who tried both says the opening is a sharp burst of spice where the original is more balanced, but that the drydown starts to resemble it closely. It adds grapefruit, which several people think helps. Read the criticism, because it is consistent: another owner calls the opening too sharp and headache-inducing, and one buyer was flatly disappointed and is hoping maceration fixes it. We would rather say this plainly too -- a Fragrantica commenter alleges the positive reviews for this fragrance are paid. We cannot verify that either way, so this score leans on the note structure and on the critical reviews, which nobody pays for.

Six notes shared with Bois Impérial, which is one more than any Arab-house alternative on this page. Timur pepper is an unusual material, and finding it sitting beside Thai basil, vetiver and grapefruit is close to a fingerprint of this fragrance — that structure did not arrive by accident. This one sits at our floor rather than above it, and the reason is evidence rather than smell. Zimaya does not publicly say what it was built from, unlike Dua, and we could find no owner who has compared the two in either direction: the Fragrantica page carries no English reviews at all. The case therefore rests on note structure alone, which is the weakest evidence we accept. It also drops akigalawood, Georgywood and Petalia — the three molecules that actually sign the original — and adds pink pepper, ginger, musk and cedar, so expect something spicier and less bright. Buy a decant before a bottle.
