The original: Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Profondo EDT
The deeper, darker evolution of the iconic Acqua di Gio -- mineral sea notes over rosemary and cypress with warm patchouli and labdanum. Modern, masculine, magnetic.
| Dupe | Match | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Arabiyat Prestige Raees EDP | 93% | $35 |
| Lattafa Liam Blue Shine EDP | 89% | $25 |
| Maison Alhambra Jorge Di Profumo EDP | 85% | $22 |
Acqua di Gio Profondo EDT retails around $120.
How we score. Every percentage comes from cross-referencing note pyramids against Fragrantica and brand-official sources, then weighting what people who own both fragrances actually report. We don't publish anything below 85%, and we say when something barely clears.
#1Arabiyat Prestige Raees EDP
Shares with the original: Bergamot, Mandarin, Rosemary, Cypress, Marine Accord, Patchouli, Mineral Musk
Seven shared molecules, and ScentMetric describes the marine-rosemary core as nearly identical -- they rate it 95% against Profondo specifically and 90% against Profumo, a flanker distinction most sources skip. The strongest source owns the original: a Fragrantica reviewer with a large collection says they owned ADG Profondo and were not expecting much, found the opening of rosemary, orange and cypress over marine notes incredible, and calls this the best Profondo clone they own at 9/10. Read the caveats before buying. The same community flags sample variation between batches, the opening runs slightly sweeter and soapier than the original, and one owner describes the quality as genuinely natural but the character as generic. It sits at 93% rather than higher because a fragrance with documented batch inconsistency cannot honestly claim near-identity -- some bottles will not be. A second owner of the original puts it more strongly still: they had ADG Profondo in the newer formulation and traded it away because they liked this more. Balance that against the most useful warning on the fragrance, from an owner who is otherwise positive — the opening is genuinely divisive, you will either like it or hate it, and this is not a blind buy. Two practical notes. Arabiyat also sells Raees LUXURY EDITION, which is a different fragrance built on lemon, calone and incense rather than this one, and it is what most marketplace listings actually stock. And distribution is thin: FragranceNet does not carry it, so the link here goes to the brand direct.

#2Lattafa Liam Blue Shine EDP
Shares with the original: Bergamot, Rosemary, Sea Notes, Patchouli
On smell alone this is one of the closest things on the site. A Fragrantica reviewer says it carries the DNA of the original and is almost identical to the Profondo version; another, who did not want to admit it, calls it pretty damn good — Profondo but less salty, and smoother than Lattafa usually manages. An owner who wore a bottle to the end and macerated it three months puts it at ninety-nine per cent. Now the part that keeps it below the Raees above, because it is just as consistent: the performance is poor. One owner scores it scent 8.5 out of ten and performance 5. Another created a Fragrantica account for the sole purpose of saying the performance is terrible. Even the ninety-nine per cent reviewer gets only four to six hours, and several describe it collapsing to a skin scent within an hour or two. A correction on our own record while we are here: this entry previously sat on our Acqua di Giò Parfum page with a note list that matched neither fragrance, placed there on a retailer's claim while its own strongest quote named Profondo. Notes and placement are now taken from Fragrantica and from owners. If you want the smell and will re-apply, this is excellent value. If you need it to last a working day, it will not.
